Selecting an Oven Model

Your Mugnaini wood-fire oven is much more than just another cooking tool. It is an expression of your personality and a visual centerpiece of your home.

Where do I start? How do I design an oven for my home?

The Oven Builder was created to help you select and design a Mugnaini oven specifically tailored to your needs and your style. Building your oven involves three stages:

  1. Enter the Installation Gallery to view a huge selection of previously installed ovens. Start by assessing the amount of available space in your home or yard. Remember that a wood-fired oven requires more space than a standard gas or electric oven or a fireplace because its interior must accommodate the fire and the food side-by-side on the same surface.

    • Click any image thumbnail to view a full-size image of the oven installation.
    • Add selected images to your personal portfolio for later reference.
    • Print your image portfolio to show your builder, or to use as inspiration for your own oven design.
  2. Visit the Oven Models page to learn about your various oven options. Review the cooking capacity of the various models to determine the most appropriate size oven for your cooking and entertaining needs.

The most important consideration to make when selecting the cooking floor size is the array of dishes you would like to prepare. As the oven models get progressively larger they can accommodate more cookware, which enables you to easily roast a large turkey or fish along with several side dishes simultaneously.

    • Do you have large gatherings?
    • Do you want to roast and grill in your ovens as well as bake pizzas and bread?
    • Would you like to retrofit an oven into an existing fireplace?
  3. Once you have selected your Mugnaini oven, go to Assembly Options to see a wide range of choices for building and installing the oven.

    • Masonry options include the oven itself, and plans for constructing a surround in one of three different styles (dome, gable or box-shape). Masonry materials are not included and typically cost 2 to 3 times the price of your oven being installed.
    • Pre-built Forno al Fresco assemblies can be purchased in a variety of shapes. These cost-effective oven assemblies are ready to fire-up, and are easily finished in tile, stone or stucco.
