Whether you build a custom enclosure for your oven or one of the Mugnaini standard designs, the enclosure MUST BE SEALED to prevent water intrusion.
The purpose of the enclosure is to:
- Provide the aesthetic exterior for your oven
- Contain the insulation materials
- ELIMINATE WATER INTRUSION
WARNING: If oven components take on moisture from improperly built enclosures or through the arch opening, it can cause deterioration and decay of the masonry floor and dome pieces

In addition to a sealed enclosure, protecting the oven components from the moisture of rain, snow and humidity is also accomplished by keeping the oven door in place when the oven is not is use.
